Bezymiannaya battery is one of the oldest Vladivostok fortifications. At the first years of Vladivostok existence in 1862 there were located guns of mount artillery division of Trans-Baykal Artillery Brigade on Bezymiannaya Mountain. From this period the name of the hill became Batarejnaya (Battery Hill). Later in 1880 - 1882 there was constructed 1880 - 1882 in wood-ground coast artillery battery by Military Engineer Captain Shyrokov. It was rebuilt as concrete one in 1897 - 1900 by Military Engineer Captain Yakubowsky. The battery was equipped with nine 9-inch coastal guns M 1867 and four 57-mm rapid-firing Nordenfelt guns.
After construction of the strong batteries on the Russian Island in 1909 - 1914 the significance of battery was decreased. The battery was disarmed in 1923, partially destroyed in 30-ies and used as car repair plant. During The Second World War there were positions of anti aircraft guns of the Pacific Navy.
Two canon yards, two bunked traverses on the main caliber block, a position of two 57-mm guns on the right side of the battery and the range-finder post were destroyed in 70-ies during constructing of Pacific Institute of Fishery and Oceanography laboratory building.
In 1989 the reconstruction of the battery for museum purposes was started by Primorje Region Branch of All-Russian Society for the Preservation of Cultural and Historical Treasures at supporting of the Culture Board of Executive Committee of Vladivostok City Council of the Peoples Deputies.
